2011 IOM Report - Preventive Services for Women Published

The PDF is available FREE from the National Academies Press. The IOM conducted a review of preventive services to ensure women't health and well being. This study was funded by the Office of the Assistant Secretary for Planning and Evaluation of HHS. The IOC convened a Committee of 16 members to develop a set of recommendations to be considered by the ASPE (Office of the Assistant Secretary for Planning and Evaluation) of HHS.

Problem doctors: is there a system-level solution?
Leape LL, Fromson JA. Ann Intern Med. 2006;144:107-115.

In this January article recently published in the Annals of Internal Medicine, the authors Leape and Fromson, call for a national solution to assure "acceptable physician performance". The article primarily centers on hospital based physicians. Based on the author's review, they summarize that hospitals are not capable of developing the systems and measures necessary to evaluate physician performance, and assure patient safety.
